Join us for an alternative Holy Island Forget Me Not Walk where you decide the route!
North Northumberland Fundraising Group had hoped to hold their annual Forget Me Not Walk, at Holy Island on Sunday 20th September 2020 at 11am. This walk has raised as much as £9,000 per year and is our main annual fundraising event. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic we cannot walk together this year, but we have an exciting alternative.
Our plan for this year’s event
The safety of all our walkers and supporters is our main priority, but we can still raise money to beat blood cancer together. Why not create your own event by linking up virtually with friends and family, and raise money for Blood Cancer UK.
The Alternative Holy Island Forget Me Not Walk
You decide the route of up to five miles, or however far you feel able to walk. You may want to walk in your garden or go on your favourite walk - you decide what suits you best whilst meeting the appropriate social distancing guidelines.
The suggested date and time is Sunday, 20 September at 11am, but feel free to choose another time or date that best suits you, your family and virtual friends.
There will be no entry fee for the event this year, but we would still encourage all participants to fundraise for us if they can – this is especially important given the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on our ability to raise funds.
You can make a donation to the Holy Island Forget Me Not Walk's JustGiving page or you can set up your own JustGiving page to ask friends and family to sponsor your walk. Please remember to mention Holy Island Walk in your page bio!
If you’ve taken part before, we would ask you to wear any of your t-shirts from a previous Forget Me Not Walk. Also, please feel free to share pictures from your walk on the North Northumberland Fundraising Group Facebook page – we’d love to see how you’re taking part!
We’d like to thank Rennie Welch for their sponsorship of this virtual event. We look forward to their continued involvement and your continued support next year, when we will meet again on Holy Island in 2021.
Finally, please note, that we assume that some level of social distancing guidance will still be in place in the time of the event, and therefore ask that you organise your walk in accordance with government advice on social distancing.
