Capture powerful moments on camera and help beat blood cancer

We're seeking enthusiastic volunteer photographers to capture our UK events and activities. Your photos will promote our work, show the diversity of community, engage supporters, and raise awareness of blood cancer - inspiring more people to get involved.

What you’ll do

  • Capture high-quality photos for web, social media, and print (copyright with Blood Cancer UK).
  • Create a warm atmosphere by engaging with supporters.
  • Follow briefs for candid and posed event shots.
  • Edit images (resize, retouch, colour correct).

What you’ll bring

  • A DSLR or high-quality digital camera.
  • Your own kit for photography and editing, including software.
  • A good eye for capturing special, impactful moments.
  • Confidence to work on your own and take the lead when needed.
  • Friendly and comfortable connecting with all kinds of people.
  • Some experience using photo editing tools.
  • Ability to follow a brief (nice to have, but not a must).
  • Your own insurance for your kit, as we can’t cover loss or damage.

FAQs: Volunteering as a photographer

The minimum age for this role is 18.

Supporting as a volunteer photographer is an unpaid role, but you can claim pre-approved volunteer expenses.

Yes, we ask that you have access to a DSLR or high-quality digital camera, your own photography and editing equipment including software, and your own insurance to cover your equipment, as we are unble to cover loss, damage, or theft.

This flexible, ad-hoc role involves occasional on-site support at events or in the office. You can choose opportunities that fit your availability, with some events requiring 3–4 hours on-site and extra time for editing.
