You'll help us raise awareness
From the importance of knowing the symptoms, to the realities of treatment, your experience helps us reach more people affected by blood cancer.
Katie paid tribute to her best friend
"If there’s one thing I think Alana would want people to know, it’s this: Trust your gut. Alana went to the GP twice and was told it was just flu or a chest infection. No tests were done. She knew something wasn’t right. Even though we all know how stretched the NHS is, if something feels wrong, don’t ignore it."
Katie's story was shared our social media channels, and was featured in The Mirror and other publications.
Alyssa showed the importance of research
"The doctors thought my only option was palliative care. That was just before my 13th birthday. Then everything changed. We found a clinical trial that I qualified for. And guess what? It worked, and my cancer is now in remission. Blood Cancer UK helped fund the research that saved my life."
Alyssa's story featured on our website and social media and was reported by media across the UK, helping us show how research is saving lives.
You'll help us raise vital funds
Stories help us inspire others to join the cause and raise funds for our life-saving research, support services and more.
George shared his fundraising tips
"I arranged a charity race night which raised over £1000! I wanted to contribute to vital research into all blood cancers, including rarer conditions such as myelofibrosis, in memory of my Dad. Seeing friends, family, and even strangers rally to the cause has been humbling."
We shared George's story on our website and in enewsletters.
You'll reassure others facing a diagnosis
We feature stories in our health information materials and social media channels to show the different experiences people living with or caring for someone with blood cancer may have.
Mphango shared how she adjusted to living with blood cancer
"At my age, none of my friends were dealing with this kind of stuff. I didn’t see anyone on social media that looked like me. It was a lonely path.... at first, I was still quite angry. But I found I could be grateful for very small things. For waking up in the morning and being at home. For the food I have. And then one day I realised, I'm actually living the life that I wanted."
Mphango's story was shared on our living with blood cancer pages, and she's featured in our awareness campaigns.
