Our nurses working group was established so that nurses could use their expertise to advise us in our commitment to deliver the most beneficial patient support.

Key aims

  • Facilitate space for conversation, networking, and sharing of best practise
  • Gain an understanding of issues faced by blood cancer nurses and initiate solutions
  • Influence the work we do by contributing expertise to projects that will provide benefit to both patients and the clinical community.

What you'll be doing

Examples of things you might do include:

  • Promoting awareness of our information and support services among patients and healthcare professionals
  • Using your expertise to help us create health literature
  • Identifying education needs in haemato-oncology nursing across the UK.

The support we need will depend on what our objectives are throughout the year, making your role varied and exciting. The group's terms of reference outline our priorities for working with nurses, as well as the roles and responsibilities of group members.

Onboarding and membership

Once you have registered your interest, a member of our Clinical Engagement Team will be in touch to book a call with you to get to know your professional role better. From there, if you both agree you can support us, we can get you onboarded right away!

Membership is entirely voluntary and all nurses will act only in an advisory capacity. New members may be recruited at any stage, and members are free to withdraw from participation at any time.

We aim to meet every two months but this may change depending on our organisational priorities. We ask that all panel members commit to attending at least four meetings per year.

" I know how much patients rely on Blood Cancer UK materials around the time of diagnosis and so I think it’s very worthwhile to make sure they are as accurate and informative as possible.
