Beating blood cancer: It takes you

29th Sep 2025

Every new person who learned the symptoms of blood cancer, every patient who discovered our charity, and every friend who decided to donate – these things couldn't have happened without your help. Thank you for your support during Blood Cancer Awareness Month, and beyond.

Blood cancer takes a lot, but this month you gave more

You told the world what it takes

With so many of you helping spread the word, hundreds of thousands of people watched our what it takes video! And we were touched to see so many people on social media adding their voices by sharing their own, personal experiences of blood cancer.

Shell and Chloe shared their experiences

@shellrowex who had stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma and @chloedixon.london who was diagnosed with CML (pictured above) were just a few of the many people who created their own 'what it takes' videos, helping us reach even more people living with blood cancer. We want to reach everyone affected by blood cancer – and Kate in our Support Services team wrote this blog about how we're there for everyone who reaches out to us.

Researchers showed their support...

We were inspired by our researchers who took a moment away from the microscope to help spread the word. Researchers like Kiran and Jasmeen's work is made possible because of people like you, and they know what it takes to beat blood cancer – persistence, patience, science and stubbornness!

And if you missed it, earlier in the month Dr Richard Francis shared his excitement for the future, explaining how our scientists are creating kinder treatments and saving lives.

It wasn't just online...

We were honoured to light up the BT Tower in London to beam out a message to the nation that leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma are all types of blood cancer. And throughout the month in Birmingham we showed what blood cancer takes on digital billboards across the city.

These are just some of the ways we're making the voice of our community heard – while Rachel in our Policy team shared how we want to make it impossible for people in power to ignore the changes that are needed.

Most importantly, it takes you

Hundreds of thousands of people added their voice to raise awareness throughout the month. But blood cancer isn't confined to just one month – we need your support until the day we've finally beaten this disease for good.
