Blood cancer researcher recognised in King’s New Years Honours

The King’s New Years Honours list has been announced with Professor Christine Joyce Britch (Christine Harrison), researcher and trustee of Blood Cancer UK awarded an OBE for services to children with a form of blood cancer.
Olympian Lola Anderson whose dad sadly passed away from blood cancer was also listed, as was Stephen Fry who has featured in a campaign for the charity.
One of our longstanding supporters, Tony Rizzo, was also honoured, recieving an MBE. Tony is the founder of the Alternative Hair Show, which has been supporting us for over 40 years.
Speaking about Professor Harrison's award, Helen Rowntree, CEO of Blood Cancer UK, said:
“We are delighted that our trustee Professor Christine Harrison has been awarded an OBE for her contributions to childhood leukaemia research. This is a richly deserved recognition of Professor Harrison’s great contributions to research into the genetics of leukaemia patients. Blood Cancer UK is proud to have supported Professor Harrison’s research over the last 30 years, which has led to significant breakthroughs and contributed to the improved survival rates we see for children with leukaemia today.”
