Throughout Blood Cancer Awareness Month, people in our community raised awareness with the words "here for this". On social media, they shared the moments they’re here for, the moments they hope to see, and the moments that should have happened. As September comes to an end, we’re sharing some of their words.

The moments people didn’t think they’d have
Some of the moments people shared might once have felt out of reach, but thanks to research, moments of joy, adventure and ordinary family life happened. For someone affected by blood cancer, getting to experience them can mean everything.

Our community also told us what they’re looking forward to. Each one of these is a reminder of why more time matters.
The moments that should have happened
Blood Cancer Awareness Month is also a time to remember the people who are no longer with us. Our community shared the milestones their loved ones should have been here for: a niece they never met, a daughter’s birthday, and a walk down the aisle.
Their words deserve to be heard. Blood cancer changes lives, and for too many families it takes away time together that they should have had.
For all the moments in between
Birthdays, graduations and weddings matter. So do family holidays, quiet afternoons and all the ordinary days in between. As one person put it: “I’ve learnt that ordinary days are actually pretty extraordinary.”
