Win a copy of Raymond Briggs’ The Strange House

20th Oct 2025 - Edward Pinches

United Kingdom

Be in with a chance to win a charming Raymond Briggs story just in time to gift for Christmas.

Raymond Briggs, the much-loved author and illustrator behind The Snowman and Fungus the Bogeyman, had a deeply personal connection to blood cancer.

His wife, Jean Taprell Clarke, also a talented artist, sadly died with leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, in 1973.

Since then, Raymond supported Blood Cancer UK every year until his own passing, and today we are honoured to be part of his legacy, alongside Rethink Mental Illness and Parkinson’s UK.

Now, after 40 years out of print, The Strange House has been republished by Manderley Press. This beautiful edition brings together two novellas first released in 1961, both written and illustrated by Raymond Briggs, and both following the adventures of schoolboys Gerry and Tim. Manderley Press recently rediscovered these forgotten classics, which have already captured the attention of a new audience. These stories continue to enchant today’s children just as much as they delighted generations who grew up with The Snowman.

At Blood Cancer UK, we know that moments matter. Every breakthrough in research, every new treatment, and every story of survival gives families the chance to share more birthdays, more Christmas mornings, more everyday joys.

By entering our prize draw, you could win a copy of The Strange House, the perfect way to gift someone a magic moment this Christmas.

Alternatively, you can purchase your own copy of The Strange House, published by Manderley Press, priced at £19.99.
