Who we are
We're registered nurses with specialist experience in blood cancers and clinical trials. We can't provide clinical advice, but we're here to listen, answer your questions, and help you navigate whatever stage of the clinical trials journey you're at.
What we do
- We have a call to learn more about you and your blood cancer
- We then use this information to search for potential clinical trials
- We send any information we find to you for discussion with your treating team
- We can also explain what clinical trials are and how they work
- We can answer any questions you might have
Please note, that all treatment decisions are made by your treating team, which consists of a consultant and other healthcare professionals. We do not have the authority to make treatment decisions.
How we do it
- You will complete a web form to contact our nurses, Jane, Rachel Lynne or Sarah.
- You will be invited to book a call after you submit this form (via phone or video call)
- If you would prefer to receive email support only, there is a box on the form you can tick to let us know. Our nurses will then ask you questions over email to gather more information.
A few things worth knowing
- There may not always be a suitable trial available, but we will always make sure you have the best support available
- If we do find possible matches, any referral goes through your medical team

Our Clinical Trials Nurses are available between 10 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday (except Bank holidays).

Meet the Clinical Trials Navigation Service Team
Jane, Rachel, Lynne, and Sarah are registered nurses with experience in blood cancers and clinical trials.
Meet Jane
Senior Clinical Trials Nurse
Jane has over 20 years' experience working in Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with the last 13 years as Senior Haematology Research Nurse within one of Cancer Research UK's Clinical Trials Units. Jane brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to Blood Cancer UK to head up the Clinical Trials Navigation Service.
Meet Rachel
Clinical Trials Nurse
Rachel has worked as a Staff Nurse within a variety of cancer care settings, from acute Haemato-Oncology units to specialised stem cell transplant wards. Most recently, Rachel worked as a Senior Staff Nurse/Research Nurse at the Drug Development Unit at the Royal Marsden, facilitating the set up of delivery of first in human clinical trials. She is passionate about improving access to clinical trials for everyone affected by blood cancer.
Meet Lynne
Clinical Trials Nurse
Lynne has worked within the specialities of oncology and haematology for over 30 years. The majority of these roles have included hands on clinical work and one to one care with patients. Most recently, Lynne was a Clinical Nurse Specialist providing care and clinics to people receiving treatment for lymphoma and blood disorders. Lynne is excited to be working within a team that can give time, support and information to help people affected by blood cancer make informed decisions about their care.
Meet Sarah
Clinical Trials Nurse
Sarah has been a nurse for over 25 years, with the majority of that time being in the fields of oncology and haematology, including chemotherapy nursing, screening and research. Sarah's last post was as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for patients with breast cancer and melanoma. She's excited to be back within haematology, as that was one of her favourite units to work on. She is passionate about improving treatments and outcomes for people with blood cancer, and feels proud to be part of Blood Cancer UK's work.
