Our ED&I Strategy 2025-2028
Because no one should die from blood cancer or its treatments, and everyone deserves the support they need, no matter their background.
Fighting inequality and saving lives
This ED&I strategy sets out our approach for tackling the biggest inequalities that affect people with blood cancer in the UK.
What we've learnt
- There’s strong evidence that people from poorer backgrounds are more likely to die earlier from blood cancer.
- People from ethnic minority communities are more likely to report worse care experiences.
- Where you live in the UK can impact survival from blood cancer.
- Incomplete data makes it hard to understand the extent of these trends.
- Our workforce and Involvement Network don’t currently reflect the community we serve.
Our priorities
Over the next three years, we’re focusing on three key areas where we see the biggest and clearest inequalities.

1) Deprivation
We'll tackle the link between poverty and survival rates, so that where you live or what you earn doesn’t determine your outcomes.

2) Ethnicity
We'll address poorer experiences among ethnic minority communities, including access to treatment, representation in blood cancer research and clinical trials, and culturally appropriate care and information.

3) Geography
We'll explore the differences between urban and rural care, and work on interventions that will prevent location from negatively impacting a person’s outcomes.
We need your voice
We don’t have all the answers yet. This strategy is a starting point, and we’re committed to testing, learning, and adapting as we go. That includes hearing directly from people affected by blood cancer.
If you’ve faced barriers to diagnosis, treatment or support, or if your care has been exceptional, we’d love to hear from you. Your insights will help shape our work and make sure our strategy delivers real change for everyone affected by blood cancer. Share your thoughts with us through our Involvement Network or explore the ways you can get involved with our work highlighted below.
