Blood Cancer UK Terms & Conditions – Walk of Light
Registration:
- You understand you are registering for the Walk of Light (“Event”). The Event is organised by Blood Cancer UK (“Blood Cancer UK” or “we”). Blood Cancer UK is the trading name of Bloodwise, registered address: 5-11 Theobalds Road, London, WC1X 8SH. Correspondence address: Suite 31 Bonnington Bond, 2 Anderson Place, Edinburgh, EH6 5NP. A company limited by guarantee 738089 (registered in England and Wales). Registered charity 216032 (England and Wales) SC037529 (Scotland).
- You must be aged 18 and over to register for the Event as an individual. All participants under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- You may participate in the Event as an individual subject to the Event instructions which can be found on the Blood Cancer UK Website (https://bloodcancer.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising-events-and-challenges/sports-challenges/walk-of-light-birmingham/) We reserve the right to not accept any registration for the Event in our absolute discretion.
- You must register to participate in the Event by completing a Registration Form which can be found at (https://bloodcancer.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising-events-and-challenges/sports-challenges/walk-of-light-birmingham/ ) At the time of registering, you will pay an individual entry fee that is non-refundable. By completing and submitting a Registration Form, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
- By completing a Registration Form, you consent to Blood Cancer UK sharing your personal and medical details with Massive (https://wearemassive.co.uk/) to facilitate your participation in this Event. Massive will delete this data no later than one month after the event.
- Should you wish to make any changes to your confirmed booking, you must notify Blood Cancer UK as soon possible in writing. Whilst we will endeavour to assist, we cannot guarantee all change requests.
Health and safety
- You acknowledge that participation in the Event involves physical activities and inherent risks and dangers or accidents, personal and bodily injury (including death) and property loss or damage. If you have any medical conditions that could be adversely affected by exercise, particularly a heart condition, or if you are in any doubt about your health; you must get clearance from your doctor before participating.
- It is each Participant’s own responsibility to assess their fitness and to ensure that they participate only if sufficiently fit and will check with your doctor to ensure that you are medically fit to participate in the Event.
- Blood Cancer UK shall not be under any obligation whatsoever to process, analyse or otherwise take any action on any medical information disclosed to it either during or after the registration process for an Event.
- Blood Cancer UK may prevent any Participant from taking part in the Event (either at the start of or during the Event) if Blood Cancer UK or any medical representative considers that a Participant should not participate in the Event for health and/or medical reasons.
- No illegal substances or intoxicants of any kind are to be brought into the Event or used by you before or during The Event.
- Blood Cancer UK, their employees or agents reserve the right to refuse your attendance or participation in the event if you are found not to abide with any or all of these Terms & Conditions.
- To the extent permitted by law, neither Blood Cancer UK nor its sponsors or suppliers will be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury in consequence of your participation in the walk.
- Blood Cancer UK nor its sponsors or suppliers will not be responsible for any loss, theft or damage of your personal belongings, other than caused as a result of its negligence or breach of statutory duty.
- You understand that it is your responsibility to inform Blood Cancer UK of any special access requirements you may need in order to partake in the Event.
- By signing up and taking part in this Event, you agree to act responsibly and adhere to the instructions of Blood Cancer UK and Massive or its marshals during the entirety of the Event, including following all route signage. Failure to adhere to these instructions will result in you being responsible for any fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident caused by your behaviour.
- In the event of a medical emergency whilst participating in the Event, you understand that your personal and medical details will be released by the medical team on site, to the event organisers, in order to inform your next of kin and any statutory authorities about the incident.
- You acknowledge that taking part in this activity is entirely at your own risk. You agree that you will not hold Blood Cancer UK or any of its representatives, employees, volunteer, trustees, persons connected to the trustees, officers or professional advisers of Blood Cancer UK responsible for any injury, death or loss that might occur as a result of your participation in the Event.
Online security
- If broadcasting your Event activity via social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube or any such site or social media platform, you shall not upload, post, e-mail or otherwise transmit or publish any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable. You must agree to delete any content which we reasonably consider to be in breach of this conditions.
Fundraising
20. You agree that in carrying out all fundraising for the benefit of Blood Cancer UK, you will:
21. If you choose not to participate in the Event or if we prevent you from doing so (including where the Event is cancelled for any reason) all sums collected or pledged will still be payable to Blood Cancer UK.
22. To claim challenge incentive(s), you must abide by the following:
a. you must have raised the fundraising goals (excluding Gift Aid) outlined for the challenge incentives within two weeks of the challenge end date to be eligible;
b. if you are eligible for the fundraising incentives, it is your responsibility to provide Blood Cancer UK with the appropriate information (e.g. t-shirt size, address) https://bloodcancer.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising-events-and-challenges/sports-challenges/walk-of-light-birmingham/
Your data will be processed and held in accordance with Blood Cancer UK's data privacy policy;
Data protection
23. You agree to Blood Cancer UK storing the information that you provided on their database and that it may be used by Blood Cancer UK in accordance with the prevailing data protection legislation and our Data Protection policy.
24. You agree that Blood Cancer UK may share your details with Massive.
25. Blood Cancer UK will use the information provided by you to manage the Event and your involvement in it.
26. Blood Cancer UK will keep you up to date with Blood Cancer UK activities or provide any other information in accordance with your stated preferences.
27. You will agree to provide emergency contact information when registering for the Event by writing this information on your Participant Number where supplied.
28. Blood Cancer UK reserves the right to pass all information provided by you to any first aid organisation or medical provider attending and assisting at the Event for safety purposes.
29. In the event of that you receive any treatment by a Medical Provider, you agree that the Medical Provider may provide Blood Cancer UK with your name and the details of the circumstances surrounding that that treatment and/or if you are withdrawing from an Event due to ill health or otherwise.
Photographs/Videos
30. Photographs and videos may be taken throughout the Event in which, as a participant, you may feature.
31. You consent to all and any use in any current or future media by Blood Cancer UK and/or its group companies of any photographs, images and/or films in which you feature, and the parents or guardians of any Young Person give consent in respect of their child(ren).
32. You acknowledge that no payment will be made to you for the use of any photographs, images or films in which you or your child(ren) feature. Should you prefer that Blood Cancer UK do not use any such images in which you may appear which are taken at the Event or any Event-related occasion in any promotional materials or if you do not wish to be the subject of any photography, please notify by telephone on 0808 169 5155 or by emailing [email protected]
33. You also agree that Massive may use without payment, notice or further consent any photographs, videos and other images in which you appear which are taken at this Event by our employees or suppliers or any participant or other person attending, on their website, social network marketing activities or any other relevant promotional material. Massive will not, however, identify anyone by name without their agreement. Should you prefer that Massive do not use any such images in which you may appear which are taken at the Event in any promotional materials or if you do not wish to be the subject of any photography, please notify by telephone on 0808 169 5155 or by emailing [email protected]
Cancellation and refunds
34. We will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that the Event takes place so far as reasonably possible in accordance with the information provided on the Blood Cancer UK website. However, we do reserve the right to cancel, postpone or make such alterations to the Event as we may reasonably require without any liability to you. In the unlikely scenario that the Event must be cancelled by the organisers due to circumstances outside their control – for example another Covid-19 lockdown – we regret that we are unable to refund the registration fee.
35. We will refund any registrations processed through the website for the first seven days after you purchase them. After that all registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
36. If you do not take part in the event, any funds you have raised will be treated as donations unless your sponsors contact Blood Cancer UK directly for a refund.
37. Blood Cancer UK reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions and any of the rules, guidelines or policies mentioned herein without notice.
