Vij and Erica volunteer to help people online

Vij

Community Forum Volunteer

Vij is one of our forum support volunteers and he dedicates his time to support others on our online community forum. Our forum support volunteers play a huge part in ensuring that our online community forum is safe, supportive and a welcoming space for people affected by blood cancer, at any stage of their, or their loved one’s diagnosis.

Vij, who is living with polycythaemia vera (PV).

Erica

Community Forum Volunteer

“It takes courage for people to post on the forum and I never ever forget how I felt when I was first diagnosed ... we're helping the charity fulfil its aims and objectives and in return we're supported in any roles that we feel suit us. It truly feels as if I am part of the Blood Cancer UK charity family and that is a lovely feeling."

Sunny's reviewed research proposals

Sunny

Patient Voice Grant Advisory Network member

"As someone directly affected by blood cancer, having the opportunity to be involved with researchers really helps make their work relevant and useful for patients like me and our loved ones."

A man is sitting at a garden table, looking at the camera and holding a cup of tea in both hands. He is smiling slightly, and seems thoughtful. There are fairy lights hanging above him and a basket of flowers in the background.

Yvonne

“We talk about being on this team that we wouldn't have chosen to be on, but now we’re on it, we've met some amazing people and it’s opened up new opportunities and ways of seeing the world. I share my story so that it may help someone else.”
