Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund
In 2021, after his own diagnosis, Matthew Wilson—now our Chair of Trustees—together with his family, joined forces with Blood Cancer UK to create the Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund. The mission was clear: to find a cure for multiple myeloma.

Why we established the Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund
Every year, nearly 6,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Although many respond well to initial treatments, the disease almost always returns. Our goal is to change this narrative.
Through the Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund, we are committed to:
- Advancing treatments: Investing in cutting-edge research to improve survival rates and quality of life.
- Supporting new talent: Funding emerging leaders in multiple myeloma research.
- Finding a cure: Driving innovation to bring us closer to a world where multiple myeloma is no longer life-threatening.
Our impact so far
Since its launch over two years ago, the fund has raised an incredible £6 million. This has allowed us to support some ground-breaking research projects focused on better diagnosis and treatment.

Impact reports
Our journey wouldn't be possible without the incredible support of the blood cancer community. See our impact reports below to find out more about how we're building breakthroughs together.
The future
We’re dedicated to turning research into real change for people with blood cancer. That’s why we’ve launched our Transformational Research Awards—funding big ideas that lead to new treatments, better diagnostics, and improved care.
These Transformational Research Awards will fund up to £1 million per project, and one will be dedicated to multiple myeloma research – funded directly though the Matthew Wilson Multiple Myeloma Fund. That’s all thanks to people like you.
With your continued support, we can change the future for people living with multiple myeloma.
