Blood Cancer UK Ambassador & Member of the Blood Cancer UK Policy Collective

"We need politicians in Wales to care about blood cancer"

Like so many in Wales, my blood cancer diagnosis took far too long. I remember not even being asked my symptoms, and was simply referred for an ultrasound months in the future.

It felt like I had to fight to be diagnosed, and it was only by chance that I got an earlier ultrasound that led to my diagnosis. Since then, I’ve got involved with Blood Cancer UK, because I know timely access to blood cancer treatments in Wales is too often down to luck. It shouldn’t be this way.

That’s why I’m asking you today, to email your Member of the Senedd and ask them to deliver for people with blood cancer.

Whether it’s equal access to innovative treatments and trials, support from a fully funded blood cancer workforce, or reassurance that they’ll be diagnosed as early as possible, no one with blood cancer in Wales should be left behind.

Please write to your MS, and help put blood cancer on their agenda from day one.

I’m a Blood Cancer UK Ambassador and a member of the Policy Collective – I’ve represented the charity at the Senedd, talking to decision makers about what needs to change. But there are other ways to support Blood Cancer UK’s campaigning work, like emailing your newly elected Members of the Senedd (MSs).
