Refer your patients to Blood Cancer UK

Healthcare professionals can join our referral service to give people affected by blood cancer the practical and emotional support they need.  We help you to provide additional care through a simple referral process.

Support we offer patients and families

We help people diagnosed with blood cancer and their families to understand their diagnosis and treatment, connect with others and navigate their care.

Our blood cancer information is written with medical professionals and people affected by blood cancer, to make sure it’s accurate, clear and trustworthy.

We help people connect with others with similar diagnoses and experiences through our online community forum and peer support webpages.

Our support services nurses offer patients and families emotional and practical support to help them navigate their blood cancer experience, complementing that provided by hospital teams.

Our clinical trials support nurses help people understand their options around accessing clinical trials, search for trials and support conversations with clinical teams.

How referral works

It’s quick and simple to join the service and start referring patients to Blood Cancer UK.

Once you have joined, you can complete a short referral form for patients, as demonstrated in this video.

What patients receive

After you refer a patient, they will receive a confirmation email from us. They then receive weekly support emails covering topics like diagnosis, treatment, connecting with others and practical support. These emails direct them to further support and information available on our website.

What patients say

It's given me a resource to refer to when I need information, encouragement or support

For those who are unable to access email, a member of our Support Service Team will call the patient. We also offer an telephone interpreter service enabling support to be provided in 170 languages.

Hospitals we work with

The service is currently live at:

University Hospitals of North Midlands and Northumbria Healthcare

We’re aiming to continually improve the service using insight and feedback from hospital sites and people affected by blood cancer.

It's just all very positive – nobody is saying 'I don’t want this'
