Announcement on sponsorship of Blenheim Triathlon

11th Sep 2020

We are sad to announce that we have decided not to go ahead as sponsor and charity partner of this weekend’s Blenheim Triathlon.

Given that our community is at particularly high risk from the coronavirus, we do not feel it would be right to continue to be the sponsor of an event that brings a large number of people together in one place.

This has been a difficult decision. We have been involved with the Blenheim Triathlon since 2006, during which time those taking part have raised over £3 million to help us fund research to beat blood cancer. But ultimately, the wellbeing of our community needs to be our number one concern.

We know many people will still be taking part in Blenheim to raise funds for us, and our decision not to continue as sponsor does not affect that. We are grateful for everyone’s support, though we would remind everyone who has blood cancer or lives with someone who has it, our advice remains not to attend large gatherings at the moment.

For more information on the risks from coronavirus for people with blood cancer, we have recently published a blog on the latest research.

Thank you for your continued support.
