Evusheld decision leaves members of blood cancer community disappointed
Today (16 February) NICE has deemed that there’s not enough evidence to say Evusheld is clinically effective against COVID-19 in the UK. NICE also said it is developing a new review process to update recommendations on the cost-effectiveness of COVID-19 treatments, so they can be made available more quickly if they show promise against new variants and are found to be cost-effective.

Blood Cancer UK disappointed by the Government’s ‘Major Conditions Strategy’
The Government’s Department of Health and Social Care announced a new UK wide ‘Major Conditions Strategy’, which they say will try to alleviate pressure on the health system. In 2022, the UK government had promised a 10-year cancer plan, however this new Major Conditions Strategy will now supersede this.

Blood cancer therapy to become routinely available for third line use on NHS
Today (Thursday 26 January), a review from National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has deemed the blood cancer CAR-T therapy, axicabtagene ciloleucel (Yescarta), cost effective for routine use on the NHS in England.
